Last year, Donald Revell
picked his wife's student's manuscript as winner of this contest. Revell was also visiting at the Iowa Writers Workshop when
Joshua Kryah was a student there.
Check out the
guidelines and judge for this year's money gathering effort. We all remember Brenda Hillman from the
Revell fiasco (scroll down) a few years back, right? Plus, we all recall her record as "judge" in the Sawtooth and Georgia contests.
So it's not surprising to see this strange new twist in the guidelines for what was already a questionable poetry contest:
is not a current or recent (within the past two years) student of the judgePoets, I do hope you realize that
Nightboat is practically PROMISING you that Brenda is going to pick one of her former students. Please don't be Good Germans (to quote
her quote).
