''More poems should rhyme. More poems should have meter..."
Haven't seen much to prove that yet. But if it does come true, then where o' where will Billy Collins be published?
I can imagine this poem:
On Being Asked To Rhyme
by Billy Collins
I'm sure Billy would rise to the challenge/or squirm out of the challenge in a perfectly witty, triumphant manner.
That will be my challenge for the week. To see if I can write a poem with that title as if written by Billy Collins.
I need to build a better Batmobile.
I'll start off with a little shopping at Wayne Industries.
How's that for a start?
I agree with you, Wils. The recent poems in
Poetry show little formalist tendencies; in fact, the poems there seem rather more obscure and knotty and ugly and formless than the norm. I'm not sure what's going on there. I find myself sludging through the poems and then I enjoy myself far more when I get to the essays and reviews.
